Cathie Wier is a weaver and shibori artist. Shibori is the Japanese art of stitch-resist dyeing. Stitches or knots are tied into the fabric and pulled tight before dyeing. The area of stitches resists the dye revealing intricate patterns. Marigold, onion skin, and fresh indigo are Cathie’s current favorite natural dyes.
